ZYXEL minimal series - Reddot award winner

Hello everyone!
It’s been a while since I’ve posted here but I’d like to share a project that I worked on during the last autumn with WMP creative for Zyxel. A Reddot winner 2024 for Redefining performance and Product design.

The Minimal Series stood out for its aesthetic appearance and sustainable design. Crafted from 100% recycled plastic materials, it has contributed to an impressive and significant 80% reduction in CO2 emissions.

The compact product form has antennas placed inside the housing to prevent damage. Oversized vents increase performance while reducing power consumption and smart snap fits allow for efficient part replacement and refurbishment. The design exemplifies Zyxel’s commitment to a circular future.

You can read more about the product in the link below:

This was completely rendered and visualized by me using Keyshot. I worked closely with Hugo Martin who created a storyboard for the animation and asked me to create the images and the animation according to what ZYXEL wanted.
The interesting part is that I tried to make the animation completely inside Keyshot and apart from the texts (Which was later added inside Davinci resolve), everything else was directly created in keyshot using geometries and textures. Even the venting effects and box frame animation. This was a fun challenge for me to use Keyshot in almost an unusual way too and it’s truly wonderful to see you can sometimes use keyshot in an unconventional way and it still does’nt disappoint you. Although, it would be even simpler to have these kinds of visuals in keyshot if we see more texture animations in future to help us animated the location and scale of them.
Let me know what you think about this project. I hope you Like it

Looks really good!

However, if I didn’t already know what kind of company Zyxel is I’d have no idea what kind of product this is. I can assume what it is by knowing the company and recognizing the small symbols, but otherwise I wouldn’t be able to tell what the product does or why I would need it. But I guess that might be out of your hands if you were given a storyboard from someone else, and maybe it’s not supposed to be a consumer commercial either?

Very nice visuals either way!

Hi Joakim! Thanks for your kind word! Well yes, the story board came directly from Zyxel and introducing what the device is was not an objective at all. Theyy required this animation to be on display at their booth with the goal of telling the design story mostly and how Zyxel Minimal Series are committed to a greener, low-carbon future. Another important objective was to show the efficiency and redefined performance while being powerful. Later they uploaded it on their social media accounts and website as well

That explains it, and makes sense! Well done :+1:

Thanks a lot Joakim for sharing your thoughts and kind words!
